I had the pleasure to shoot bridal portraits and the wedding of Ashley and Jordan Danks in Austin, Texas. The portraits and wedding took place at Hyde Park Baptist Church in Austin. Ashley is a beautiful and tremendously fun bride to be around and always has a quick smile or laugh. Here are some of the bridal photos we shot a month or so before the wedding. They were all shot inside the church, which has great stain glass windows that allow streaks of light into the sancturary late in the day. I always look for the light and try to use it for dramatic and colorful photographs. None of the images were manipulated in photoshop. The light is either from off camera SB-900 flashes, available light or lights used by the church.
Although not a "bridal portrait", I loved the light I had and used it to capture her awesome ring. This is one of my favorite photos of the day.
The night wedding at Hyde Park was beautiful and beautifully lit for a photographer. The Christmas decorations were up so the lights, trees and candles added a great ambiance. Give me lights and candles and I will use them.
What a genuinely lovely couple are Ashley and Jordan. You can see how they LOVE each other with every look and touch. I've had the pleasure to see them outside the wedding setting and it is clear they just enjoy being together because they both have a smile on their faces even when they don't know people are watching.
The reception was held at Creekside near the famous Salt Lick Restaurant in Driftwood, Texas. The bride's cake was from Classic Cakes by Lori in Dripping Springs, Texas and was beautiful, besides being delicious! The groom's cake was one of the coolest I have ever seen. It was a White Sox jersey with incredible detail. I love this photo. Ashley's bouquets were from Bouquets of Austin. Very intricate and classic.
Ashley and Jordan, thanks so much for letting me be a part of your special day. I really loved it!
